Meath board delay manager decision
by Brian Murphy, 13 October 2008
The identity of the new Meath football manager will not be known for another week after a decision on the matter was deferred by a week at a meeting of the county board on Monday night.
The county board meeting went ahead as expected, but no decision was made on who will take over the position left vacant by Colm Coyle's resignation.
Eamon O’Brien is the favourite to take over in the Royal County, while Luke Dempsey has also been linked with the job.
Meanwhile, Eamonn Gallagher was not, as expected, unveiled as the new Westmeath hurling boss on Monday night.
A meeting of the county board on Monday night did not go ahead and has been put back to next week.
However, Gallagher’s name will go before the board for ratification next week, and the former county football selector should be named as Johnny Dooley’s successor without much opposition.
