Heroine out to do Stack proud
by Michelle Fortune, 13 October 2008
Unsung Heroine is an intended runner in the inaugural Pride Stakes at Newmarket.
The lightly raced daughter of High Chaparral is one of 12 possibles for Saturday's 12-furlong Group Two and connections have declared her an intended runner, providing ground conditions do not turn against her.
"She has had a bit of a break since the Leger and seems really well in herself," said Fozzy Stack, son and assistant to trainer Tommy.
"The plan is to run at this stage. She wouldn't want rock-hard ground, but as long as she can get her toe in a little bit she should be fine."
Unsung Heroine, who has had just three races, was second to Conduit in the Ladbrokes St Leger on her last start and she is the standout entry for the Pride Stakes.
However, Dar Re Mi, second to Zarkava in the Prix Vermeille could take her chance for John Gosden.
Aidan O'Brien's quartet is headed by Sail with Ice Queen, Jane Austen and Perihelion also possibles alongside the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Crystal Capella.
Armure could take her chance for Michael Jarvis with Geoff Wragg's Arthur's Girl and the Barry Hills-trained Under The Rainbow also among the declarations.
Shreyas and Saphira's Fire complete the entries.
