McAlister: Munster won't Sale past us
by Joseph Caron Dawe, 13 October 2008
Sale centre Luke McAlister has warned reigning European champions Munster that they will be in for a rough ride when they visit Edgeley Park on Sunday.
Both sides got their Heineken Cup campaigns off to winning starts at the weekend, but Sale will be the more encouraged by their resounding bonus-point 32-15 victory in Auvergne over Clermont.
Munster got the defence of their title underway with a 19-17 win over Montauban at Thomond Park, but they know they will need to up their game when they travel to the Guinness Premiership side.
McAlister knows Tony McGahan’s side will set out with a point to prove, but he is adamant his side will be just as motivated for the encounter.
“Yeah, but it's not easy coming to Stockport,” said McAlister when asked if he expected a revved up Munster. “It's not a nice place for teams to play. We'll give them a warm welcome.
“One of the reasons I came over here was to play in the big stuff and today was my first taste of it. I was up for it.
“To get the points was huge, but we've got to stay grounded.”
