Setanta has added to its growing portfolio of live football rights by securing a three-year deal with UEFA to broadcast over 30 Exclusively Live UEFA Cup games per season from the 2009/10 campaign onwards.
Setanta's package of rights consists of 32 live games per season including 17 from the UEFA Cup group stages, six from the rounds of 32 and 16, two quarter finals and one semi-final. Based on the recent successes of British teams in the competitions, it is anticipated that Setanta would exclusively show approximately 18 games involving British teams and 15 games featuring other teams in the competition.
The UEFA Cup coverage will sit alongside Setanta's burgeoning portfolio of live football, which includes World Cup 2010 away qualifiers featuring England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, England home friendlies, FA Cup, Barclays Premier League, Clydesdale Bank Premier League, Blue Square Premier and action from the top European leagues.
The deal, which is shared with Five and ITV also includes a weekly highlights programme.
