Latics wait on skipper's fitness

Mario Melchiot is hoping to return for Wigan's FA Cup replay against Notts County, but Victor Moses and Marcelo Moreno are unavailable.

Latics skipper Melchiot missed Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Everton due to a neck injury he picked up at Blackburn last week and is battling to be fit to face their League Two opponents at the DW Stadium on Tuesday.

Latics boss Roberto Martinez is also waiting to see if Maynor Figueroa can recover from a stud to the foot he picked up towards the end of the Toffees game at the weekend.

Keeper Chris Kirkland is again missing with a collarbone problem so Vladimir Stojkovic will continue to deputise between the sticks, while Steven Gohouri faces a late fitness test after picking up a hamstring problem.

Monday's new signing Moses is unable to make his debut having already appeared for Crystal Palace in the FA Cup this season, while Bolivian hitman Moreno cannot play after signing too late.

However both will be in contention to face Sunderland on Saturday.
