Former undisputed lightweight champion Nate Campbell has revealed his desire for a bout with Ricky Hatton.

Campbell recently stepped up to l40lbs and with former light-welterweight king Hatton confirming last month that he intends to fight on in spite of his brutal knockout at the hands of Manny Pacquiao last time out, The Galaxy Warrior has put himself forward as a possible opponent for the returning Mancunian.

"I really want to fight Hatton," he enthused. "Everybody says I don't make exciting fights, I can't punch and I can't do this but I think me and Ricky would make a good fight because both us would come out to knock each other's head off. That's a fan fight. I can go from boxer to puncher anytime and he's a banger from wall to wall."

Campbell is currently scheduled to take on Victor Ortiz on May 15, while Hatton is planning to make his comeback in the early part of the summer.

However, Campbell is hopeful that the match-up can be made at some point this year and revealed that he would be more than willing to travel into Hatton's backyard, admitting that he would relish fighting before 50,000 fans at Manchester's Eastlands stadium.

"I love the big crowds; even if they are booing they're saying something," stated Campbell, 33 -5-1 (25).

"The beautiful thing I love about the Brits is they stick by your fighters. It's a wonderful thing to have our fans love us even though we lose. We fight more for them but it's quite draining to have people turn against you when you've given your all."
