Following criticism by Roberto Martinez and visiting managers the pitch at Wigan's DW Stadium will be relaid at the end of the month.
The problems with the pitch at the DW Stadium were evident in Wigan's goalless draw with Bolton last Wednesday and on Sunday as Martinez's side went down 3-0 against Tottenham.
A broken undersoil heating system and extreme winter weather have contributed to the state of the playing surface, while the return to action of Wigan Warriors rugby league team has also impacted on the pitch at the DW Stadium.
The club have now confirmed the pitch will be relaid after the Warriors' Super League game against Catalans Dragons on February 26, with Wigan's next game at home against Liverpool on March 8.
