Blackburn will only find out the full extent of Ryan Nelsen's injury in the next 24 hours amid fears he has suffered knee damage.
Nelsen had to leave the field of play during Sunday's 3-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers and Rovers boss Sam Allardyce fears the player may have picked up a serious knee injury.
Not only is the injury a big worry for Rovers but New Zealand will also be sweating on the news with the World Cup in South Africa just around the corner.
"I'm hoping that he's twisted his ankle and not his knee," Allardyce told the Blackburn website. "But he was holding his knee which was the big problem for me and I think it's his one where he's had surgery before."
