Birmingham boss Alex McLeish has urged Michel to bide his time as he waits for his first-team chance at St Andrews.
Spanish star Michel has been restricted to just four substitute appearances since joining the Blues during last month's transfer window but McLeish is confident the 24-year-old will be a hit when he is finally given his opportunity to impress.
He told the Birmingham Mail: "He is a victim of circumstance. He has just got to be patient.
"
I have got to show faith to the guys who have done so well for the entire season.
He understands that.
"Once these guys get us to a position where I feel we can look to try and achieve more, then we can get Michel some games.
"
Sometimes players can feel a little bit out of it.
That's what we've got to make sure doesn't happen.
"He was the captain of Sporting, used to playing every week. This will be a new thing, something he's got to deal with."
