Real Madrid look set to hold talks with Bayern Munich this week to discuss the purchase of Chelsea target Franck Ribery.

Reports in the Spanish media on Monday have indicated that Real will meet with the German club this week in Manchester as both teams attend the General Assembly of The European Club Association to see whether they can broker a deal for Ribery.

The French international was heavily linked with a move away from Bayern last season with Real, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United all thought to be interested.

Ribery's contract is set to expire next summer and, if the Bundesliga club are unable to persuade the 26-year-old to stay, they may look set to sell him this year rather than lose him for nothing.

With Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti believed to be keen on Ribery the Blues look set to register an interest in the playmaker come the end of the season, although they look like they might be beaten to him if Real Madrid do hold preliminary talks with Bayern this week.
