West Ham keeper Robert Green is hoping to keep the England number one jersey when Fabio Capello decides on his first choice XI for the World Cup finals.
Green put in another assured display in the win over Egypt last night and he looks to have made the shirt his own after playing the full 90 minutes of the clash despite both David James and Joe Hart being available.
The shot stopper is confident that he will keep the number one spot for South Africa, but he is not taking anything for granted.
"It was pleasing to play and I feel that if I wasn't going to be part of it [the World Cup] I wouldn't have been playing," he told Sky.
"I am really pleased to play, but it is about looking forward and improving, I want to learn and I have learnt things from the game.
"I am desperately keen to do well for West Ham and my country.
"I want to play in every game and that means improving and taking confidence from every game and moving on and looking forward."
