Shawcross '100 per cent committed'

Ryan Shawcross insists he will continue to be fully committed for Stoke despite his leg-breaking tackle on Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey.

The 22-year-old is due to serve a three-match suspension following the challenge on Ramsey, which left the Welsh starlet nursing a badly broken leg, during last Saturday's 3-1 defeat to the Gunners at the Britannia Stadium.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was left furious at Shawcross' tackle, despite the Potters defender insisting there was no malice intended.

And the Chester-born star insists he will not let the fall-out from the tackle on Ramsey affect him when he gets back in the first-team reckoning.

Shawcross told the Sentinel: "Whenever I play for Stoke I am 100 per cent committed and that will be the same as ever when I next play.

"Hopefully, when I am back from suspension, I can do well again.

"The fans and a lot of people around me have been fantastic in their support over the past few days."

Meanwhile Shawcross hailed the players in the England squad with whom he trained alongside this week ahead of Wednesday's 3-1 friendly win against Egypt in which he was an unused substitute at Wembley.

He added: "The other players have been fantastic. It has been about football really, nothing else.

"I have enjoyed it thoroughly with England. It has been a tough few days, but all I can do now is look forward and hopefully get back in this squad again."
