Paul Sackey says his decision to move to French rugby next season was made as he feels he really needs a fresh start.
The 30-year-old England international will leave Wasps to join compatriots Jonny Wilkinson and Tom May at Toulon next season on a two-year contract.
And having won the Guinness Premiership twice and also claimed a Heineken Cup medal in his time at Adams Park, the winger feels that remaining a Wasps any longer might have seen his career gone stale and fbelieves that he has chosen the right time to move on.
"I experienced and won practically everything with Wasps and I needed a new challenge, to break the routine that had set in," said Sackey.
"I had been feeling and experiencing the same things for several seasons and I needed to leave to continue to have passion for rugby with the same intensity.
"Above all, I took this decision to have a fresh start. I wanted to change my environment and lifestyle. I could have gone to Paris, but that was too similar to London.
"I wanted to experience a real change, by signing for a club that offers me something different and has a lot of ambition."
