Chairman Niall Quinn says Sunderland will give Steve Bruce the opportunity to turn things around at the Stadium of Light.
The Black Cats have not won in their last 14 Premier League matches and have seen themselves drawn into a relegation battle - with Bruce's men currently just three points outside the drop zone.
After a decent start to the season and wins over the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal, Sunderland have struggled to stop an alarming slide down the table and pressure has been mounting on the manager.
But those seeking a free bet on Sunderland should note that Quinn has insisted that the board are fully behind Bruce and that he will have the time to make things right.
The chairman stated: "Steve Bruce has only been here nine months and it takes a while for a team to settle in. But we're really happy that we have the spine of a side that can consistently get into that top 10."
Sunderland are back in league action this coming midweek, when the Black Cats face relegation rivals Bolton at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday.
