Ferrari driver Felipe Massa is worried that Formula 1's new teams will not be quick enough in races, and may consequently pose a threat to the more established sides.
The 2010 championship will feature three all-new entries in the shape of Virgin, Lotus and Hispania Racing.
Virgin's Timo Glock finished mid-pack in one test at Jerez, but otherwise Virgin and Lotus have been at the bottom of timesheets, whilst Hispania, originally called Campos Meta, are yet to feature in the timesheets.
"I hope they won't be a danger," Massa told Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera.
"There are six to seven teams one second apart while those teams are four seconds behind. It's not good for the sport and not good for them: it's like two different series.
"They'll suffer. And we'll suffer too, when we have them in front of us during qualifying."
