Yachvili earns Les Bleus recall

by Oli Skehan , 07 March 2010

Biarritz scrum-half Dmitri Yachvili has been called into the French squad for their RBS 6 Nations clash with Italy next week.

The move comes after Frederick Michalak was injured while tackling Scotland back Hugo Southwell in the second minute of Toulouse's 29-0 win away to Stade Francais in the Top 14 on Saturday.

Yachvili is only back from a knee injury himself and the 29-year-old has not played for France since their Southern Hemisphere tour last summer.

Michalak told Canal Plus: "I felt a crack when I tried to tackle the Paris player. There was a crack at the outside of the knee.

"We will have to do tests to find out exactly what happened."

Yachvili scored a try for Biarritz on Saturday, and kicked 10 points, as they beat Toulon 21-20.

In 40 appearances for France Yachvili has scored 253 points.
