Everton defender Phil Jagielka has described Mikel Arteta's performance in Sunday's 5-1 Premier League win over Hull City as breathtaking.
The Spaniard scored twice and set up another in only his fourth start after nearly a year out with a cruciate ligament injury and subsequent setbacks, right on the back of Toffees manager David Moyes saying he was ready to be a key man in the final months of the season.
And Jagielka, who himself played his first 90 minutes against Hull in nearly a year after his own knee ligament woe, says Arteta - after overcoming the initial jitters of returning to first-team football - is close once more to the brilliant form that has already seen him become a Goodison Park legend.
"I think so far we've had the safe Mikel," the defender said in the Liverpool Echo.
"He's not had to go into that many tackles, or play too many world-class passes and he's done everything neat and tidy.
"But if you've watched him in training the last few days, he seems to have everything back; his balance, his eye to foot coordination, and it's frightening.
"If you look at the way he runs with the ball, and his vision, ...... as you could see against Hull, some teams will have no answer to it."
On his own return, Jagielka added: "I had an idea I'd get some game time, so there was a little bit of nerves driving in and then when the gaffer named the team it was nice to hear my name in the first 11 and a fantastic game to come back in."
