Steed back for Trotters clash

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce says Steed Malbranque is in the squad to face Bolton despite being disciplined by the club.

The midfielder was left out of the squad that drew 0-0 with his former club Fulham last week following rumours the player had broken a curfew ahead of the Arsenal game.

Bruce refused to go into details but says the matter is now closed and the midfielder will be in the squad that takes on Bolton on Tuesday night.

"Whatever has happened, Steed knows what's happened and with that, he has been punished and he has taken his punishment," Bruce said. "As far as I am concerned, the matter is closed.

"It will remain confidential, like anything that happens in the football club.

"Unfortunately with media, it always seems to get out, but the matter has been dealt with. He is in the squad and he will play some part."
