Owen Coyle is refusing to say how many points Bolton will need to stay in the Premiership and is taking one game at a time.
Wanderers have given their survival hopes a huge boost with back-to-back wins over Wolves and West Ham and now sit five points above the drop zone going into tonight's clash at Sunderland.
Bolton appear to be closing in on Premiership survival and with Wigan coming up at the Reebok on Saturday it could virtually be achieved by 5pm on Saturday if all goes to plan.
However Coyle is not setting any targets and says the next game is always the focus.
"I'm not being evasive, but I really do just look to the next game," Coyle revealed. "I think it's folly to look too far ahead and think that amount of points will keep you safe or won't.
"You won't know that until the last game of the season, so what we do is concentrate on the old cliche - it's one game at a time, it really is.
"What we do know is that game by game, if we do pick up points, that will serve our purpose well."
