Rangers extended their lead at the top of the Scottish Premier League over Celtic to 13 points, after a 2-0 win at Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.

Steven Whittaker and Kenny Miller netted for the Glasgow giants in the second-half.

Both sides had chances in the first-half, with Kris Boyd coming close against his old team for Rangers and Mehdi Taouil almost netting for the home side.

The breakthrough came after 55 minutes. Killie defender Tim Clancy attempted to head away a Sasa Papac cross, but the ball fell for Steven Whittaker to net his 11th goal of the season with a low finish into the bottom corner from an acute angle.

Rangers scored the second just six minutes later. Killie goalkeeper Cameron Bell blocked from Davis only for Miller to react like the goal poacher he is to slam the ball high into the net from close range.
