McGourty a doubt for Gall's

by Oli Skehan , 09 March 2010

CJ McGourty is a major doubt for St Gall's ahead of the novel All-Ireland club football final against Clare champions, Kilmurry-Ibrickane, at Croke Park on St Patrick's Day.

The Antrim sharpshooter bagged himself an impressive 1-9 in the All-Ireland semi-final win over Corofin at Parnell Park and is key to the Ulster champions' chances of lifting the Andy Merrigan Cup at GAA headquarters on Wednesday week.

As it stands there is no definitive diagnosis of what kind of injury McGourty is suffering with but he had surgery on a debilitating hip problem last year and it is understood that the same problem has resurfaced in recent months.

In fact, McGourty recently made it known that he had taken several pain-killing injections to get through games because of pain in his hip and that he had received medical advice that advised him to take an extended break from the game.
