Reid open to Baggies stay

Steven Reid says he has to show Sam Allardyce he is worthy of a new deal at Blackburn but has not ruled out staying with West Brom.

Reid has joined the Baggies on a one-month loan deal and the versatile star knows it is a crucial stage in his career as he is due to fall out of contract at Ewood Park in the summer.

The former Republic of Ireland international has had a nightmare on the injury front over the last few seasons but is now back to full fitness and is hoping to prove he is worthy of a new deal.

Reid says he is also open to extending his stay at the Hawthorns and is looking to impress the Baggies at the same time.

"My contract is up in June, so this isn't just a chill out. This is a big move for me," Reid revealed.

"I've got a lot to prove to a lot of people, and to myself, that I can get back to my best. I've got no doubt I can do that.

"I just want to rediscover my best form and there's no reason, if I can have a good month here, why it couldn't be extended even longer.

"And, with my contract up in June, who knows? It's a big opportunity this month, starting today."
