Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel thinks the partnership between British pair Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton at rivals McLaren could prove to be very intriguing.
Button, who won the F1 world championship with Brawn F1 last season, has now linked up with his predecessor as champion, Hamilton taking the 2008 title as a McLaren driver.
Vettel, seen by many as one of those who could ensure it is not three on the trot for Britain this term, is curious as to how the pairing will work out and feels it could prove difficult for Button as he tries to live up to his 2009 success.
"You've got two British drivers in a British team - with Hamilton and Button at McLaren," Vettel told The Guardian.
"I don't think it's going to be easy for Jenson. Lewis is very quick and he has known this team for many years.”
Vettel also alluded to Hamilton’s partnership with another former world champion, Fernando Alonso, in 2007 when Alonso accused the team of showing Hamilton preferential treatment because he was the British boy. Three years on, Hamilton is entering his fourth year as a McLaren driver, something Button will have to be aware of according to the German.
He added: “You can see what he did back in 2007 when Fernando Alonso was at McLaren."
Vettel has no worries about his own relationship with his team-mate, however. He came third in the world championship when driving alongside Mark Webber in 2009 and he and the Australian are once again paired for the news season which kicks off in Bahrain this weekend.
"I think the most spectacular combination is me and Mark because everyone knows we don't have a problem," he continued.
"Of course I want to beat him every time, and he wants to beat me, but we get along well."
