Whelan battling injury

Glenn Whelan is a big doubt for tonight's clash with Burnley at Turf Moor because of a hamstring injury.

The Potters midfielder limped off at Stamford Bridge after sustaining the injury during the first half of Sunday's 2-0 FA Cup defeat to Chelsea.

Stoke manager Tony Pulis hopes that Whelan came off in time to prevent serious damage because he is also potentially without Matthew Etherington (knee), Danny Higginbotham (back) and James Beattie (knee).

Salif Diao is sidelined with a calf strain while Ryan Shawcross remains suspended.
