Pakistan ban duo for life

The Pakistan Cricket Board has told Mohammad Yousuf and Younus Khan they cannot represent their country again due to 'infighting'.

The PCB made the decision following an inquiry into the dismal performance of Pakistan side on the winter tour of Australia, where they lost all nine internationals, in which it was concluded that 'infighting' between the two star players 'brought down the whole team'.

Rana Naved-ul-Hasan and Shoaib Malik have also been hit with big fines and one-year bans, while Shahid Afridi, Kamran Akmal and Umar Akmal also face heavy fines while their conduct will be strictly monitored during a six-month probationary period.

The cull of players will leave Pakistan depleted of numbers as they look to defend their ICC World Twenty20 crown in the Caribbean next month, before facing a tough summer tour of England.

But a PCB statement read: "This will go a long way to arrest the continuing decline of Pakistan cricket and improve the state of cricket in Pakistan."
