Preview: The Puerto Rico Open

by Tony Cuddihy , 10 March 2010

The Puerto Rico Open plays host to 132 golfers this week and, while most of the big hitters are at Doral, there are still a number of quality picks on show at Trump International Golf Club.

Rory Sabbatini has had a fairly quiet time since he finished as runner-up at the season-opening SBS Championship behind Geoff Ogilvy, but as the highest ranked player in the FedEx Cup standings to take part in Rio Grande he could well be worth a flutter.

Similarly, Jeev Milkha Singh has gone off the boil in recent times. This time last year he was finishing as runner-up at Doral and now, as a member of the PGA Tour, it's time for the Indian to start delivering on his sizable promise.

Kevin Stadler has a solid history in Puerto Rico and seems to be on his way to his first USD1m season. He has two top 10 finishes and three top 25s in five events so far and is a golfer on the rise.

Finally, Joe Ogilvie is taking some excellent form into this latest tournament. Having briefly led in Phoenix - he carded consecutive 66s - he managed to finish tied for 26th at last week's tough Honda Classic.
