Jerry Flannery admits he deserved to be punished for his tackle on Alexis Palisson in the early stages of Ireland's defeat to France in Paris last month.
The Irish hooker received a yellow card for the reckless lunge on the French winger at the Stade de France but was subsequently handed a six-week ban for the tackle.
Prior to his appeal hearing it was suggested the Munster player would claim he was suffering from concussion at the time of the incident but he denies using such an excuse and accepts the committee were right to suspend him.
"Listen, I was given a fair hearing. I got a lot of clarification. I can move on," Flannery told the Irish Independent.
"We didn't use the concussed line - that just got picked up. It was just when I looked at the video, I'd landed on my head with my legs folded and my neck compressed.
"When I got up, I didn't realise which way I was playing or what was going on. But I never used it as an excuse. I rang Palisson and texted him. I said I was really sorry, that he didn't deserve to miss matches. I deserve punishment. I take it on the chin now."
Flannery will make his return in Munster's Magners League clash with Leinster at Thomond Park on Good Friday.
