Ricky Ponting and Cameron White both hit half-centuries as Australia beat New Zealand in Auckland to claim the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy.
Having lost the first match of the series, the Aussies bounced back to claim the next two and Thursday's six-wicket victory at Eden Gardens via the Duckworth-Lewis method ensured that they now have an unassailable 3-1 lead with one match to play in Wellington on Saturday.
Ponting won the toss and gave the hosts first use of the pitch and the Kiwis duly raced to 63 before Martin Guptil was dismissed for a rapid 30.
Opening partner Brendon McCullum hit three fours and four sixes in his 61 but the Black Caps' middle order lost their way, with the score plunging from 120-1 to 154-6.
Gareth Hopkins (20), Shane Bond (19) and Daryl Tuffey, who clubbed four sixes in his 17-ball 34, managed to get the score up to 238 but they were all out with more than five overs to spare - criminal in 50-over cricket.
Nathan Hauritz took 3-46 while James Hopes returned figures of 2-38 from his 10 overs.
Rain put a halt to proceeding in between innings leaving Australia to chase a revised target of 200 from 34 overs but they made the worst possible start as Bond had Brad Haddin caught at slip for a second-ball duck.
But Ponting's assured 50 from just 35 deliveries and Shane Watson's rapid 32 soon got the tourists back on track.
White finished unbeaten on 50 while Adam Voges chipped in with 34 and Mike Hussey ended up 28 not out as Australia reached their target with 17 balls to spare.
