Aston Villa are thought to be keeping tabs on West Brom's in-form defender Gabriel Tamas, according to his agent.

The Romanian centre-half has made 13 appearances for the Baggies since completing a January switch, making a name for himself in that time with a string of solid performances for the club.

Despite currently being well stocked in the centre back department, Villa are thought to be keeping an eye on Tamas who has already stated his desire to stay in England.

The 26-year-old is currently on loan from Auxerre until the end of the season and his agent Florin Manea has reportedly said his performances have attracted a string of interested club, including Martin O'Neill's men.

While Manea says his client has in principle agreed a three-year contract with the Baggies there is a chance the club may decide not to sign Tamas, leaving the way clear for Villa should they want to add another defender to their ranks.
