Harrington moves up the leaderboard

Padraig Harrington has moved into contention at the WGC-CA Championship at Doral in Miami.

Harrington finished the day on six under, after a four-under 68, and he was pleased with a score that moved him into fifth place with Dane Soren Hansen.

"I have a tradition, unfortunately for me, that I don't normally win out of the blue,” said the Irishman.

"It's very rare. I normally warm up by getting into contention a few times.

"I'm happy with my scoring, but I made a few mental errors out there and missed a few putts.

"Obviously, though, I hit enough good shots and I seemed to have a lot of reasonable chances for birdies."

In contrast his playing partner for the day, Ian Poulter, had a disastrous day on the course, hitting seven bogeys and ending on a 78, but a neck injury was troubling him all day.

"I don't want to make excuses for that round, but I nearly didn't play yesterday," said the Englishman.

"The neck's been coming on for a while and the pillows are not very good this week.

"My usual physio guy is in Australia, so I had to get some treatment when I got to the course and as I went to practice I still wasn't sure I'd be playing."

The round left Poulter on six over for the tournament and with no cut this week, he languishes in 65th place.

Ernie Els leads the field on 10 under.
