Warriors win but demand more

Wigan coach Michael Maguire admitted his players were still not satisfied despite their 48-24 thrashing of Hull FC at the DW Stadium.

The Warriors were looking for a response after suffering their first defeat of the Super League season last week when Bradford came back from 20-0 down to beat them 22-20.

And they duly bounced back with an eight-try demolition of Hull on Friday night, with both Darrell Goulding and Sam Tomkins touching down twice.

Pat Richards, Goulding, Martin Gleeson and Amos Roberts all scored tries in the first half as the hosts opened up a 24-6 lead at the break, with Richard Whiting crossing for the visitors.

Tomkins' brace came in the second period, along with Goulding's second score, while Cameron Phelps also got on the score sheet.

Richards kicked eight goals but Wigan appeared to switch off as the game petered out in the second period with Hull scoring three tries late in the match through Sean Long, Craig Hall and Richard Horne.

Maguire was pleased with the margin of victory but admitted that his players were unhappy with the way they let in the three late scores.

"The boys throughout the week really showed a lot of commitment to their training and they got their rewards," he said.

"We were committed until around the 72nd minute and we need to look at that. The boys themselves are quite disappointed too. You've got to go for 80 minutes."
