Alonso hails 'best team'

Fernando Alonso, after his debut race for Ferrari ended in triumph, hailed his new squad as "the best team in the world."

The two-time world champion overtook team-mate Felipe Massa in to the first corner of Sunday's race at the Bahrain Grand Prix to take second place, before inheriting the lead from Sebastian Vettel, after the German's Red Bull suffered an engine problem.

Massa took second place to secure a dream start to the season for Ferrari.

"It's special even more for Ferrari with the history of the team," said Alonso.
"There is no better way to start the relationship. It's the best team in the world.

"But we've done nothing so far. It's only the first race, but this is credit to the people in Italy, the mechanics and president (Luca) Di Montezemolo.

"This result is something very positive, and is great for the rest of the season."

Massa was also delighted with the result, especially having undergone major surgery following a heavy crash only eight months ago.

"It's fantastic to be here, and thank God I'm here, that I'm fine and in a competitive car," enthused the Brazilian.

"Every driver has supported me, and I've received plenty of letters from all around the world which has given me plenty of motivation."
