Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is reportedly planning a summer raid on former club Wigan for keeper Chris Kirkland.
The Wigan stopper has earned rave reviews for his performances in the Latics goal this season and it has been suggested that Bruce is planning a summer swoop for the former Liverpool man.
Black Cats chairman Niall Quinn has already confirmed Bruce will have money made available to him in the summer to strengthen his squad and Kirkland is believes to be top of his wish list.
However, Wigan boss Roberto Martinez will be keen to hold onto the 28-year-old and Bruce may face a battle if he is to secure a deal for Kirkland.
