Bernie admits season could be extended

F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone has suggested that the world championship calendar could be extended to 20 races in 2011.

India is set to join the F1 mix in 2011, with this year's campaign already extended to include 19 races. Korea have been added to the fray with the championship ongoing until mid-November and Ecclestone told reporters after Sunday's season-opening race in Bahrain that next year could see even further additions.

"Why, would you like more?," he said. "It is a round number and easy to remember."

Indeed there could be even more races as Ecclestone accommodated that a return for the US Grand Prix could be on the cards, the race last having been held in 2007.

He added that many factors have worked against the race - which would be held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway if it comes back - but did not rule anything out.

"It is (a possibility)," the Briton was quoted as saying by the Guardian. "It's only the fact that it's all the wrong crowd and the wrong people ... nothing worked there really, we'd have to have a big change round. But we'd like to get back there. We can have a look."
