Cats target Villa swoop

Sunderland are again being linked with a move for Aston Villa defender Habib Beye but face competition from Fulham.

The Black Cats were linked with a move for the player during the January transfer window but a deal failed to materialise and he ended up staying at Villa Park.

However Beye has opened the door to a move to the Stadium of Light after revealing he wants to move on in search of first-team football at the end of the season, while the Cottagers could also be an option for him.

Villa boss Martin O'Neill is unlikely to stand in the player's way at the end of the season and there will be no shortage of interest in the former Newcastle defender.
