Pulis defends Tuncay decision

Tony Pulis will not punish Tuncay's tantrum after he was substituted against Aston Villa and said his withdrawal was right for Stoke.

The Turkish international stormed down the tunnel after being substituted in the 54th minute of the 0-0 draw with Villa and snubbed his manager's offer of a handshake in the process.

Pulis played down Tuncay's reaction as he recognises that he would like to stay on the pitch to try and win the game.

However the Potters chief also warned that he will not hesitate to replace him again if it is what he thinks is best for the team.

"Tuncay is a great lad and he's disappointed he's come off," Pulis told the Sentinel.

"We all react differently and we have to accept that. He's been a smashing pro since he's been here, but he doesn't like coming off and that's fine because there's a lot of players like that.

"I don't have to justify it in any shape or form. I don't do it because it's personal.

"It's all about the team for me and that's always been my philosophy.

"I've always been like that. As a young manager, I didn't worry if I brought off a senior player or a so-called name player if I thought it was the right thing to do."

He added: "I know people are disappointed when Tunny comes off, but I do what's best for the team."
