Tiger Woods is to become the latest subject/victim of the TV show South Park when the popular animated series returns to screens this week.
The 14th season of the popular comedy, which rarely worries about who or what it focuses on or how, will open with an episode about the world’s number one golfer, whose personal troubles and sabbatical from playing have dominated golf headlines for several months.
Reports emerged on Tuesday that Woods will return for next month's Masters after taking his break to seek therapy after a string of infidelities became public knowledge. In the meantime fans can get their Tiger fix on the Comedy Central show, with Woods – and his well-publicised recent public apology – set to feature in Wednesday’s season premiere.
The show, which features foul-mouthed youngsters Cartman, Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Butters, troubled elementary school teacher Mr/Mrs Garrison and everyman hero and absolute champ Randy Marsh, has targeted numerous famous names for ridicule in the past. The likes of Bono, Britney Spears, Russell Crowe and the Jonas brothers have all come in for the treatment Woods is likely to get from the show, which has also aimed repeated swipes at, among many others, the Church of Scientology and the people of Canada.
"It's such an important issue in America right now - the sex addiction outbreak," one of the series creators Matt Stone was quoted as saying by The Huffington Post.
"We're all really concerned about him and hope he gets better.
"There's a delicacy in talking about (Woods) that we don't have to worry about," added Stone, who says the episode will focus on sex addiction, the intersection of powerful men and willing women, late-night phone calls to the police and bad public relations.
