Eto'o talks up Inter hopes

Samuel Eto'o says Inter Milan are genuine contenders for the Champions League title after reaching the quarter-finals.

The Cameroon international scored the only goal on Tuesday night, as the Serie A champions won 1-0 over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge to progress 3-1 on aggregate.

Eto'o, who won European football's top prize during his time at Barcelona, feels Inter have all the qualities to go all the way this season and lift the trophy in Madrid this May.

The 29-year-old said: "Inter are a great side of champions and when we play at the level we did tonight, we can win in any stadium."

Eto'o was asked to play in a wide role against Chelsea and he says he is happy to fill in for the good of the team - who are looking for their first European Cup success since 1965.

The striker added: "The coach told me two days ago I would be playing in that position. It is a sacrifice for the team that I must make and we are all very happy."
