Buckley presses his claim

Will Buckley has done his chances of earning his first start for Watford no harm at all by scoring for the reserves against Ipswich.

Will Buckley strengthened his claims for a Watford debut at Cardiff on Sunday with a goal for the reserves against Ipswich.

The winger joined the Hornets from Rochdale in January but has been sidelined since for six weeks by a thigh strain.

Buckley was an unused substitute in Tuesday's win over Ipswich's first-team and then proved his fitness with a run-out against their second string yesterday.

His goal which set Watford's reserves on their way to a 2-0 victory was a well taken effort past former England goalkeeper Richard Wright in the first-half of the game before Lewis Young added a second after the interval.
