Collins wants extended run

Danny Collins says he will not give up his place in the Stoke defence without a fight after recently returning to their first-team.

The 29-year-old lost his place at the start of the year, but has started the last three Premier League matches partly due to Ryan Shawcross' suspension.

Collins told BBC Radio Stoke: "I'm not going to lie and say that I don't mind sitting on the bench, but there's been injuries and I've got back in.

"I'm pretty pleased with the way things have gone in the last couple of weeks."

Collins joined the Potters from Sunderland for £2.75m in September 2009 and has made 20 starts for the club in all competitions since then.

Manager Tony Pulis has already hinted that the Wales international will keep his shirt against Spurs on Saturday, despite the return from a three-match ban of Shawcross.
