Defender return boost

Crystal Palace have been boosted by the news that Paddy McCarthy is set for a run out in the reserves on Thursday.

McCarthy has been struggling with his shoulder problem all season after aggravating the injury in training way back in November.

He is now close to a comeback and will feature for the second string who tackle QPR on Thursday afternoon.

It would be a major bonus for boss Paul Hart if McCarthy were to return to the first team squad for the vital run in to the end of the season.
