Brentford want to take Ipswich defender Pim Balkestein on loan in a deal that could eventually lead to a permanent move from the club.
The Dutch defender spent a month on loan at Griffin Park earlier this season, and is way down the pecking order at Portman Road.
Tractor Boys boss Roy Keane is willing to let the 22-year-old leave the club, and the Bees are now waiting for the green light from the player.
Keane said: "I have not spoken to Pim yet. It would be a loan deal, but with a view to a permanent move.
"
We have good numbers in his position, since Tommy Smith came back.
Tommy is going nowhere."
