Diddy to bid for Palace

Hip-hop superstar P Diddy is considering making a bid for cash-strapped Championship outfit Crystal Palace.

A spokesperson for the 40-year-old American, whose real name is Sean Combs, confirmed the rapper's interest in the club to Sky Sports News on Thursday evening. However, no further details of the proposed takeover bid were disclosed.

Palace have been in administration since January 26 and are facing a real battle to avoid relegation to League One.

It was reported earlier in the day that Combs also ran the rule over Premier League outfit Portsmouth, who are also in dire financial trouble before deciding that Palace represented a more attractive proposition.

A source close to the rapper allegedly told The Sun: "He could cover their debt and bankroll a return to the Premier League. He liked the name as well."
