Brown boost for Scots

by Mark Doyle , 19 March 2010

Kelly Brown has been cleared to start for Scotland in Saturday's RBS 6 Nations clash with Ireland at Croke Park.

The Glasgow Warriors forward was earlier this week selected at blindside flanker for the game in Dublin but his participation remained in doubt with the Scotland medical team keen to continue monitoring the effects of his clash of head's with Ugo Monye in last weekend's 15-15 draw with England.

However, it was confirmed on Friday afternoon that Brown had been given the green light to line out against the Triple Crown-seeking Irish.

"We expected everybody to be fit, so the planning this week for the last game of the championship has involved giving the guys a lot more time to recover, which they've done," Scotland boss Andy Robinson said. "It's now about putting in a huge performance against Ireland."
