Paul Nicholls has confirmed that both Kauto Star and Denman are fine after their Gold Cup exertions at Cheltenham on Friday.
The Ditcheat duo were far from deflated despite the fact that Imperial Commander took the top prize in racing, with Kauto falling four from the last and Denman finishing as runner-up under Tony McCoy.
"They're both fine," reported Nicholls.
"Kauto is a little bit stiff and sore after his fall, as you'd expect, but he's bright in himself, as is Denman, who has has come out of his race really well. The pair of them are grand, fit and well, and they live to fight another day."
As expected, Nicholls stressed that it is unlikely either horse will run again this season.
"I think it's very unlikely either of them will run again this season.
"Next season, I would loveto think that Denman could go back and win a third Hennessy, and that Kauto could win another King George; they would be their targets at the end of the year."
