Leinster facing centre crisis

by Oli Skehan , 21 March 2010

Leinster could yet have to plan without their two first-choice centres for the Heineken Cup quarter-final against Clermont Auvergne next month.

Brian O'Driscoll is reported to have suffered medial ligament damage to his right knee in Ireland's Six Nations defeat by Scotland on Saturday and is expected to be ruled out for around six weeks.

The Ireland captain is also likely to miss several Magners League games, including the clash with Munster on 2 April.

If that news was not bad enough for the Irish province it has emerged that Gordon D'Arcy is also a doubt for the quarter-final after sustaining a groin injury in Scotland's 23-20 win which denied the Irish the Triple Crown.

Michael Cheika's side will cross swords with the formidable French outfit on Friday, 9 April.

D'Arcy's injury is a further blow for Cheika as Luke Fitzgerald is already out for the rest of the season after suffering a serious knee injury during Ireland's autumn internationals.
