Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry has admitted he is trying to convince team-mate Wayne Bridge to return to the England fold.
Bridge announced he did not want to travel to the World Cup with England after allegations emerged that England captain John Terry had an affair with Bridge's former girlfriend.
However, Barry has revealed that he and his Manchester City team-mates are trying to convince Bridge to change his mind.
He said: "I'd like to see him go.
"
Time can change people's opinions sometimes and hopefully that will happen with Wayne.
He doesn't want to sit down in a few years' time and regret anything.
"World Cups don't come around too often and it might be a last time to do something, but I'll respect his decision. He's been to a World Cup before.
"
We'll have another go.
I think there have already been conversations between the lads and Wayne and there could be a time when we see what he's thinking and may put our opinion across."
Bridge is currently sidelined for a month following a hernia operation, meaning he will miss some crucial games for City as they battle for fourth spot in the Premier League.
Punters may wish to back Manchester City to secure Champions League football with their free bet despite Bridge's injury as the Eastlands outfit have a game in hand on all their rivals for fourth spot.
