Welshman Rhys Davies has recorded his maiden European Tour victory following a magnificent final round performance at the Trophee Hassan II tournament in Morocco.
Davies shot a seven-under-par 66 to overtake Louis Oosthuizen at the top of the leaderboard, the victor finishing on 25-under overall, two strokes clear of the South African.
Four players - Thomas Levet, Ignacio Garrido, Mikko Ilonen and Thomas Aiken - ended up in a tie for third place, five shots adrift of Oosthuizen. Finland's Ilonen matched Davies' superb 66 on the fourth and final day of the tournament.
Irishman Peter Lawrie was another competitor to enjoy an excellent fourth round, hitting a 67 to complete the tournament on 15-under and tied for tenth place, alongside Northern Ireland's Gareth Maybin.
Maybin's countryman, Darren Clarke, could only manage a disappointing even-par outing on Sunday. He finished on five-under in a share of 43rd place.
At the front, Davies looked to have damaged his hopes of victory with an early bogey, hitting a four on the par-three second.
However, the Welshman rallied to score four birdies over the remaining seven holes of the front nine, before going on to gain four more shots over the first five holes after the turn.
In the end, Davies was able to comfortably close out the victory, finishing with four successive pars.
