Dowie's Tiger belief

New boss Iain Dowie claims he believes more than ever that Hull will escape the drop following their performance at Portsmouth.

The Tigers were just minutes away from picking up a vital away win at Fratton Park but a late collapse saw Pompey snatch all three points.

The result leaves Hull in all sorts of problems in the bottom three of the Premiership but new man Dowie claims he saw enough to make him believe that escape is possible.

"I feel more positive after that performance," he told Sporthull:

"I wanted a response from the players and I got that.We could very easily be talking about a great result and our first away win in a year.

"The players have really tried to embrace what we are trying to do.

"The spirit we showed along with the tenacity was very pleasing.

"We are on the bad end of a result but we have to use that disappointment to help steer us through what are eight massive games.

"There is enough in this squad to keep us up. No doubt about that."
