Ivan Ljubicic said he enjoyed a "fantastic week" after beating Andy Roddick to take the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.
The 31-year-old has already beaten Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic en route to the final and he completed the job with a 7-6 (7-3) 7-6 (7-5) over the American on Sunday.
The 20th seed sent down 20 aces and 42 winners to claim his 10th ATP title and, in doing so, has become the oldest first-time winner of a Masters Series event.
Both players possess big serves and it was a match of few rallies, with the Croat setting up his fourth match point with his 20th and final ace.
Another big serve gave him the victory - his fourth over the American in 11 meetings between the players - and Ljubicic was delighted to win his first Masters Series final at the fourth attempt.
"It's been a fantastic week," he said. "It was really a mind game. When you have two big serves, not a lot of rallies happening, it's a very mental match. I was fortunate enough to be more relaxed by the end."
